Arriving and leaving
We would ask that you arrive anytime after 4pm on your first day and leave by 12pm on the last. We are happy to arrange alternative times if you need to arrive sooner or leave later, for example, but please ask us in advance.
Toilet and shower
You have your own private toilet and shower and these will be cleaned during your stay if it is for more than three days. However, please make sure all children are supervised in use of both to ensure hygiene standards are maintained.
The water in the shower can get very hot so please ensure adults are aware of this before use, and that children are always supervised.
Parking
You have your own parking space next to the Lodge, but if you need to park more than one vehicle please let us know in advance. Please take care while driving on site as we have dogs and they are sometimes loose, and have been known to run towards cars rather than away from them. If we are aware of your arrival, we will ensure they are not outside.
Pets
We are very happy for you to bring your dog with you for your stay, but please respect the Lodge and the furniture inside. We provide throws for all furniture which we ask you to use to cover the furniture if your four-legged friend is going to sit with you, and we would ask you to cover the bed clothes if your dog sleeps with you on the bed so they are protected and not ruined.
Any damage to furniture or fabrics will result in additional fees being applied for cleaning or repair/replacement.
Please also clean up after your pet using poo bags and leave in the bin provided. This will be emptied when you leave, or before if required.
General care of the Lodge
We hope that you will enjoy your stay with us, and that you will treat the Lodge with respect. If there is debris or for example food found on the floor inside or outside of the Lodge – which will attract rodents and other vermin – we will apply additional charges (£50-£100 depending on how bad the mess is) to have this properly cleaned.
Bio Fuel Heater
There is a bio fuel heater inside the Lodge which can be lit when it is chilly. Bio fuel is a sustainable fuel source and we have chosen this instead of a traditional wood burner so we can provide a similar effect with less environmental impact.
The bio fuel heater has a real flame, so please be aware that the outside of the heater will get hot to the touch and avoid any contact with flammable material. The fuel will burn for between three and six hours depending on the level of heat you desire, but please DO NOT try to refill the burner reservoir while the heater is still hot. You will need to leave it to cool for 20 minutes or so before using the funnel to refill the reservoir before lighting it again.
Rubbish
There is a bin provided inside the Lodge, but if you need this emptied before your stay is finished, please let us know and we will do this for you. Please DO NOT simply leave a bin bag outside to be collected by us, as it will be ripped open by foxes overnight and cause an unpleasant mess, potentially attracting more vermin.
Group bookings
The Lodge can sleep six comfortably, or seven if one person is prepared to sleep on the sofa (there is one double sofa bed in addition to the twin beds and double bed in the bedrooms). If you want to book a group, this is not a problem. But we ask that whoever makes the booking ensures all of the people know about our Terms and Conditions and Conduct of Stay rules and agree to abide by them.
Please do not allow children to make dens or play areas inside the Lodge area, or in the woodland across the road for safety reasons. They must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Campfires
We provide a chiminea for campfires you might like to have while you stay, and we will provide the first batch of wood for you for free if you need some. Additional wood can be bought from us for a £5 fee.
Any wood you bring to burn yourself must not create unpleasant smoke, and at all times the chiminea must be kept a safe distance from the lodge to prevent the risk of fire from stray embers. Please DO NOT put the chiminea on the decking outside the lodge.
Please ensure all children are kept away from the chiminea while it is alight or hot, and if you go out or go to bed, please ensure the chiminea is put out before doing so. If we see an unattended chiminea, we will put it out.
Please do not take wood from the woodland across the road, it is a private woodland so you would be trespassing, and it is not a sustainable source of wood for the fire.
BBQs
We are happy for you to have a BBQ if you wish, but please follow the same rules as for the chiminea. It must be kept away from the Lodge and all coals must be put out if you go out or go to bed. BBQs should also be raised off the ground, but DO NOT place instant BBQs on garden or lodge furniture provided.
Noise
One of the beauties of the Lodge is the quiet and peaceful surroundings, so please do not play amplified music or create excessive noise generally. All noise should be kept to a minimum after 10.30pm.
If you enjoy getting rowdy, drinking heavily and partying all night, we are not the place for you, so please do not book. We do not encourage hen or stag parties to stay for this reason.
Fireworks, candles, lanterns, other open flames
We do not allow any of these at the Lodge for safety reasons. Please do not bring them. There is solar-powered lighting and two torches are provided for the bedrooms that can also be used at night to visit the toilet.
Smoking
The Lodge is a no smoking facility. If you must smoke, please do so outside and away from the Lodge so there is no residual odour for other guests, and dispose of your cigarette butts safely, not on the ground.
Damage
Any damage to any part of the Lodge, the furniture indoors or outdoors, the shower or toilet or any other part of the site must be paid for in full.
